Berchtesgaden 2012

In August 2012, we stayed for a week in Berchtesgaden. We had an apartment right in Berchtesgaden and have done a lot in the area. There were also some nice playgrounds for Gabriel and the bavarian live music in the restaurants he liked very well.

We were at the church Kiche Maria Gern and at the Locksteinkapelle in Berchtesgaden. The small church of Maria Gern is not far from Berchtesgaden and with the great location and the watzmann in the background in any weather a nice photo motive. In Ramsau we were at the Wimbachklamm and at the beautifully-situated church. The Hintersee is really a nice place to relax, here we have been often for a walk. The trail offers many different views of the lake. The landscape, the magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and the clear waters are fascinating in any weather.

The Königssee is really a must have seen, the great location and the shimmering green water are an absolutely beautiful sight. We first hiked the painter angle-tour, where you will be rewarded with a magnificent view of the Königssee. Then we are, of course, correct stupid for prime time, driven by boat to St. Bartholomew. Here we went along the shore and enjoyed the beautiful view. Apart from the long waiting times at the jetty it was a great, relaxing trip.

The Rossfeld-Panorama-Road is a great road section with many viewpoints and a stunning view. We were also at the Eagle's Nest, the driveway with the special buses on the Kehlsteinstraße has been a wonderful experience with a great view, it is not for nothing one of the most beautiful mountain roads. By the 124m long tunnel and the elevator 124m in height then you end up directly in the Eagle's Nest. The historical significance, the incredible location and the great panoramic views are definitely worth a visit. The exhibition Documentation Obersalzberg and the tour of the bunkers are very interesting and show the hard-hitting reality and the inhumanity of the Second World War.

A short side trip we made from Berchtesgaden to Austria to the waterfall at Golling. After walking past an old mill, you'll get to an 25m high waterfall.

Berchtesgaden is at all seasons a great area where you can see and do a lot. We will definitely come back again!
