Wales 2017

I also have not found a suitable companion for my photo vacation in this year. So I decided to visit Wales. From London I went by rental car to the south of Wales. The first destination was at Nash Point Lighthouse. From there I went to the Brecon Beacon Nation Park, where I made a hike to the Pen-y fan. Then I went to the Henryhd waterfall, which was not that impressive I have thought. I made a short detour to Three Cliffs Bay and after a short walk I drove to the Stack Rocks and the Green Bridge.

The next morning I drove to Freshwater West Beach and then to Snowdonia Nation Park. There I made the circular walk on Cedair Idris, which was really fun! The next destination was the Fairy Glen Gorge, which is not that spectacular as it looks, but it is a magical place! I then changed my mind and fortunately went to Tryfan to catch the sunset there. Luckily, because the sunrise was not quite that spectacular.

In the morning I went to the Watkins Path, which I only went for a very short time. Then I went to the Pen-y-Pass and did the hike to Mount Snowdon, that was really an experience! I made the ascent and descent in 4 hours, and was still a bit tired afterwards! But I went on, after I had strengthened myself in Llanberies, I went to Holyhead to the South Stack Lighthouse. After I was satisfied with the sunset, I went further to Penmon. Early in the morning I took some pictures of the lighthouse. I could have saved me the trip to the Talacre Lighthouse, that was somehow not worth it at all. Past the tea house in Llanrwst, the last destination was the waterfall Pistyll Rhaeadr, which was not really worthwhile either. That's how it goes sometimes!

Of course I stayed overnight in the car again. The nights were not nearly as bad as in England, but a bit weird, since an overnight staying at some places is actually not allowed and sometimes it was controlled. The last night I spent in England and had to pay a heavy penalty for it. That was a lesson to me, next time I'll pay attention to it! Overall it was a very adventurous photo vacation, especially the two hikes in Snowdonia Nation Park were a real experience and a lot of fun. If you like hiking you have to go to Wales!
